The mission of the Jack Allen Early Country Living Museum is to preserve and exhibit farm and early country living artifacts from the 1700's up through the early 1900's for the purposes of preservation, education, demonstration and research.
Imagine what life was like 100 years ago as you try out a butter churn, heft a walking plow, or squeeze into the desk of a one-room schoolhouse.
It was the dream of the late Jack Allen to provide an opportunity for everyone, especially children, to visit his farm and view the literally hundreds of artifacts he had collected over the years. After Jack's death, members of his family and his circle of friends and colleagues vowed to help make Jack's dream come true. As a result, a Board of Directors was established, and a portion of the one-time Allen Family Estate on Landing Road in Southampton, just outside the Village of Vincentown, has become "The Jack Allen Memorial Early Country Living Museum".The Museum houses Jack's extensive collection of farm and country artifacts, antique tractors and farm equipment, antique home items, as well as items donated by others.
The Jack Allen Early Country Living Museum captures Burlington County's agricultural roots. Here you can explore a rural farming village as you stroll the Museum's "Main Street" to visit Vincentown's original bank, Medford's first post office or an old-time general store. Come discover how country life was lived in times gone by. It's fun for the whole family!
Currently open a limited schedule from from April through October, many aspects of the museum are in the planning and development stage, the museum will open in stages over the next several years. Your moral and financial support is encouraged as we undertake this wonderful task in memory of a beloved member of our community.
